It's a real zoo around here

Our life is a bit of a zoo, and we went to the zoo :). I guess I should give an update on our wild life. Jeff ended up quitting his job a week ago to take another job that starts tomorrow. What is interesting is that this job is a former employer. He worked for them 4 years ago before we moved back up to be near family. They were really wanting him to come back, and actually called HIM! At first he wasn't open at all, but the more he prayed about it, the more he felt like God was leading him to take the job. So it looks like we are moving back to the small town we moved from 4 years ago. It is 2 hours away from family, which isn't too awfully bad. I will really miss our families though. I have really enjoyed being so close. One nice thing is that we know lots and lots of people in the town we are moving to, and it is a small, rural, safe community. There are quite a few people we know who homeschool, which will be great. Evie already has friends there, and she is actually super excited to be moving back. We are putting the house up for sale in about a week. Jeff planted grass seed in our garden area and covered it with straw. I did a lot of groaning when he did that. All that work for nothing! Ugh! We are looking at renting a house that has 1 acre of property. It is a log cabin that is in a very small town near the town Jeff will be working. We went through it, and talked with the owners who were super nice people. They have been trying to sell the place for a year and can't sell it, so they are open to renting it. There is a huge garden area already on the property, so if we get to move quick enough, I will still get to have my garden. We really need to sell our house first before we rent. We are praying that our house will sell super fast.

Friday, Jeff and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary. We took Evie to the zoo, and had a lot of fun. The flowering trees were absolutely gorgeous, and they were planted all along the walking paths all throughout the zoo. The lilacs were in full bloom, and smelled SO good. The animals were really interesting this time! Here is the white Bengal Tiger. She was pretty relaxed, as you can see :).

Makes you just want to scratch her belly doesn't it??

Here is a picture of Evie and I by one of the huge lilac bushes. I wish you could smell how wonderful it smelled!

We got quite a laugh out of this portly Prairie Dog. He or she just sat there like this, on his behind with his feet out eating for quite awhile.

And here is a wild domestic shorthair....oh wait, this isn't a zoo pic. Lol. Don't you just love the way Daisy is sitting??

Daisy was being really cuddly this afternoon, so Evie wanted to take my picture with her. Daisy turns a year old in about a week. Dolly turns 11 tomorrow, and Sierra turns 7 on May 1st. My pets are getting older :(.

It is going to be a very busy week, as we take stuff to storage and get the house ready to sell. We know God has a great plan!

God doesn't always work the way we expect Him to, but perhaps there's more than one answer here. I think I remember you missing your former church at one time - perhaps now you can find your 'family' again. And didn't Jeff hate the job he'd just accepted? But I understand about missing family.

I pray it all works out for you and that your house sells quickly. My son's house has been on the market since before Christmas and they've had to rent as well, so I understand the financial strain that can cause. Hopefully homes are selling faster in your area.

And congrats on your wedding anniversary. Sixteen years is definitely an accomplishment these days and you look so good together!

Hi Jules. We do miss our church friends from our old town. Not the church so much, just the friends :). Jeff also hated the job he accepted, so it all seems to be falling into place. We ran into some friends at McDonalds this afternoon, and we found out that they just sold their house that is not far from us, and it sold in less than a month! That was encouraging news. I hope your son's house sells soon. Thank you for your kind words, and for the compliment! I feel so blessed to have my hubby :)!

Oh wow Jen what great news. It is sad that you'll be so far away from family, but family is sometimes what you make it. For me friends have been better family at times. Hopefully your house sells fast so you can move and get on with your life, and a new garden!
God bless,
Kelly

Yay! That's great news! The moving part not so much, but I know you liked where you used to live and Jeff will enjoy working for a familiar company, right? And you'll have big garden if you want it! And you guys have friends there already. This sounds really good! I mean, if you have to move for a job, this sounds ideal. And you're only 2 hours away from family; that's not bad at all! I'm so happy for you! :)

And I hope you can sell your house easily. You just never know. We have a contract on ours and another one pending in case the first one falls through! And we are not what you'd call "lucky" people - lol. So it can happen!

A cabin?! How nice! You'll have to post some pictures when you get there; I can't wait to see it.

Regarding garden frustrations: We're going to actually move ours next year to a totally different spot. Mike says it's no big deal, but to me it's so much work. But, by then we'll have a tractor and it really will be pretty easy. Our current spot gets sun, but the other spot gets LOTS of sun. In the meantime, the weather has prevented us from planting anything yet! That's okay; it's making us relax, which is something we really should do more often - lol.

Happy 16th wedding anniversary!

SchauzerMom- Thank you! It goes on the market Monday, so these next few days are going to be CRAZY!

Kelly - Thanks! I will really miss our families, but I am glad we already have a lot of friends there. It is so much easier than moving to place where I don't know anyone!

April - The packing part is not fun at all. I know you know what that is like :). I'm so excited for you about the offers on your house! That is awesome. I have been praying that everything would go through. We aren't sure if the cabin will end up working out now. They are really wanting to sell it, but I guess time will tell. If the cabin doesn't work, I'm not sure where I am going to have a garden! I hope we know something really soon!! I can't wait to see garden pics from your garden. My seedlings are doing great so far, so I am thankful for that. They just need a place to be planted!
